Could a patient with leukaemia be given tobramycin for any reason, even if they get an infection?

Yes: Tobramycin is an antibiotic and is used for infection. People with leukemia are at a higher risk of infection either due to chemotherapy or immune cells that are ineffective. They are sometimes given antibiotics prophylactically. This is not my specialty so I am not sure of the indications for these antibiotics or which ones are used.
