Injection only if...: Injections are only a temporary relief. I consider it like a bandaide on a wound. If your pain has been there for more than 6-8 weeks then most likely your inflammation is now chronic and will need more aggressive treatments. Injection followed by orthotics, ice, night splint, nsaids (topical is my choice), physical therapy, even a cast if severe, would be my choice.

RICE: Rest, ice, compression and elevation. Injection is usually helpful. See local podiatrist for options like strapping, orthotics etc....

Support first...: I'd say 98% of my plantar fascitis patients respond to non-surgical treatments... Rest, supportive insoles (like spenco total support), rx orthotics, otc anti-inflammatories (like aleve), prescription nsaid's, steroid injections, prp injections, physical therapy, etc... If all else fails... Surgery.
