Okay but: It is okay, but to try to get an effective result, you should stick with one toothpaste for the intended period of time for what you want, like if you choose to get a prescribed Fluoride paste, you should run its recommended course by your dentist and not mix with others.

Yes: The mechanical action of the toothbrush bristles is what cleans your teeth. Toothpaste is not needed. Toothpaste contributes to making your mouth fresher, may have Fluoride to decrease risk of decay, may have a whitener to whiten teeth and may have a whitening ingredient. If it foams it has a foaming agent that shortens how long you brush. Be sure to floss daily along with brushing or floss only.

OK: It's really the brushing that does the cleaning. Toothpaste tastes good and usually has fluoride, lower level or none in children's toothpaste. Best favor you can do yourself is to also floss daily.

Child's toothpaste: There is no harm in using child's toothpaste all the time. Be sure it is Fluoride or that you have a special fluoride gel to suppliment if none in the toothpaste.

There's no problem: with using a children's toothpaste if you're an adult as long it contains enough fluoride. Good luck!
