Essential Tremor: Primidone (mysoline) is a structural analogue of phenobarbital. The drug reduces tremor amplitude by 60% to 70%. Although Primidone therapy reduces hand tremor, tremors of the head, voice, and other areas improve less. The starting dose of Primidone should be low (12.5-25 mg), taken at bedtime, and gradually increased until tremor reduction is achieved. The maximum dosage is 750 mg/day divide tid.

Essential tremor: The dose range is from 25 mg to 250 mg. By increasing the dose slowly, you may identify the lowest dose appropriate for you.
