Pericarditis: Pericarditis is an inflammation of the sac that surrounds the heart. It may be the result of an infectious process, chest trauma, certain environmental exposures (such as radiation), or other systemic (body-wide) inflammatory process that attacks the pericardium. Treatments are targeted towards the underlying process and may certain include anti-inflammatory agents.
