Viral infection: Hepatitis a is a viral infection but this particular type of hepatitis is not transferred in the same way as hepatitis b and c . This virus is transferred by what is known as fecal - oral transmission , in other words someone puts something in their mouth which has been infected by someone elses stool. The result can be a mild liver inflammation or fulminant liver failure . No carrier state

Virus: Hepatitis a is the first virus isolated and proven to be a cause of hepatitis (infection of the liver). It is usually relatively mild and self-limiting. Full recovery with subsequent immunity is common and there is no chronic form of the disease. If you are going to be in an area where water and food may be contaminated there is an effective vaccine. This is transmitted fecal/orally.
