A member asked:

Hello, i have got autj immune hepatitis and being treatd. my question is can i get pregnant? does my child get the same disease i have?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually No: Autoimmune hepatitis (aih) is generally not passed to children, although there is a possibility they could develop it later in life. Patients can successfully become pregnant, but you would need to work closely with your doctor as some of the medicines for treating aih can cause birth defects and may have to be adjusted.
