A member asked:

Do anti depressants help with anxiety?

8 doctors weighed in across 3 answers

Some do, some don't: First of all it is necessary to know the type of anxiety that is being treated. Different antidepressants have shown efficacy in the treatment of only certain specific anxiety disorders only to fail miserably in trials of the treatment of other anxiety disorders. Almost seems to be a notion that all antidepressants are capable of treating all anxiety disorders. Unfortunately, this is simply not the case. This is where it is necessary to know the psychiatric literature and the tests and studies that show which antidepressants are most likely to help in which types of anxieties. Having said that however, it is important to note that significant numbers of patients in any anti-anxiety trial on any given antidepressants will not respond to the anti-anxiety effects. In those cases a psychiatrist will select from among other options and certainly psychotherapy, especially cognitive behavioral therapy can be very helpful. Many other approaches outside of the area of mainstream medicine can be helpful as well and i will leave it up to my colleagues to respond to those possibilities.

Anti-Depressants: Yes they can help with anxiety as well as depression. What helps the most, in my opinion, is learning how to perceive accurately as anxiety is mainly caused by misinterpreting situations and interactions. Try to focus on the truth and ask for help from those close to you. Also try using the anti anxiety app on your phone. My best.
