Overly??: You have a high risk pregnancy, and so you should be working hand in hand with both your OB and a maternal-fetal medicine specialist. But that does not mean 'overly worry'. More like appropriate care. The odds are way on your side for having a fantastic pregnancy and normal baby, but you need to be more vigilant because you are at higher risk for having things that pop up. Congratulations!

Just plan ahead: The basic risk of any pregnancy at any age is about 4% for having an unexpected outcome (cleft, premi, sick, chromsome defecr, etc.).At 41-42, you add only 1-2% for a chromasome defect, which gives you a 95-96% rate of normal outcomes which is pretty good. Unfortunately your peer group will not be as helpful or supportive because they are not having a kid at the same time.It worked out fine for my mom.

No: What would it do or change if you get to be worried? You should accept it and focus on how much of a blessing this child will be to you.
