Panic disorder: Means that you experience the fight or flight reaction for no reason. These discrete episodes at least at first feel like you are going to die. Thankfully, there is treatment available. See your doc to rule out physical causes and if medically okay, see a psychiatrist.

An Anxiety Disorder: Panic disorder is an anxiety disorder where one experiences panic attacks. Panic attacks are descrete episodes of intense anxiety that occur randomly and without any specific cause. One can experience overwhelming dread as if one were dying, shortness of breath, rapid heart beat, abd feeling as if one is having a heart attack. The attacks last only minutes but can be intense. There is treatment.
