A member asked:

Can the cornea keep its dome shape when touched?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No, it flattens: With minimal pressure the dome of the cornea is flattened. In fact the flattening when touched is the basis of most tests that determine eye pressure. The amount of force necessary to flatten the cornea to a standard degree is proportional to the eye pressure on the inside of the cornea. With such measurement, the flattening is referred to as applanation.
