BAD IDEA!!: The real question is what not to do that slows healing. Avoid alcohol, peroxide, hibiclens, betadine, bleach solutions. Inflammation ( red, hot, swollen, tender) is important to healing so anti-inflammatories (motrin, advil) are bad.Keep it covered with a clean dressing changed every other day and protected from trauma. Air/dry is bad! antibiotics do not help healing unless it is truly infected.

Don't want to: Wounds heal faster when kept moist and covered. Drying them out and allowing a scab to form impedes wound healing.
