Can be serious: I do not know what you mean by "churning" but in most cases pneumonia can be serious and is treated with antibiotics.

Treatment ?: Most cases of simple pneumonia can be detected during an office evaluation, sometimes aided by a chest x-ray. Routine treatment would be an oral antibiotic. However, some cases of pneumonia can be quite serious if not fatal and require hospital based care. Your post does not contain enough information to comment on your situation.
