Broken Nose: A broken nose can be fixed for two reasons - change in appearance and change in breathing. If your nose looks different since the fracture or you are having trouble breathing since the fracture, these are the two main reasons to have nose surgery. Most ents and plastic surgeons perform nose surgery, but ask the doctor if they perform the cosmetic and the breathing correction surgery frequently.

I : I wouldn't recommend trying to reset your nose yourself. An ear, nose, throat doctor (or facial plastic surgeon) would be the best type of doctor to see to have the fracture treated appropriately.

Nasal Fracture: There are several ways to correct a broken nose. First, if the fracture was recent enough, you can undergo a closed reduction, a brief procedure to put the broken bones back into place. If its been a while since the injury, surgery can be performed to correct, usually a septorhinoplasty. These procedures are best done by an ENT specialist. Best of luck to you.

See plastic surgeon: Not all nasal fractures will need anything done. Those that cause disfigurement often are repaired by plastic surgeon or ENT specialist. Usually not done early, but a week to ten days after injury, when swelling subsides. Timing best determined by surgeon.

Straightened: Crooked nose can be realigned. Ask PCP to refer you to Plastic Surgeon or Ear/Nose/Throat Specialist for evaluation.
