Several options: If you have somehow injured or strained your underlying pectoralis muscle, that could cause pain that is perceived to be in the breast. Of course, direct injury to the breast could also cause pain. Mastitis is an infection that occurs most commonly in breast feeding women. If you can feel an associated mass or lump, or if symptoms persist, see a physician.
