Conservative RX?: Compressive cervical myelopathy can be corrected with decompressive surgery; and there are many therapeutic surgical modalities. Myeopathies due to intrinsic cord lesions need a work up to rule out treatable conditions. Non compressive traumatic myelopathy improve with time.

Avoid further trauma: Once myelopathy is diagnosed, your spinal cord needs to be treated gently. Avoid contact sports, impacts to your head, falls, bouncing or jarring. If surgery is required to relieve pressure on your spinal cord, then pursue it. Your spinal cord function can improve after surgery but will not return to normal tolerance to extreme activities. Walking, riding a bike, and swimming are good exercises.
