A member asked:

I have an appointment with the gynecologist for the first time, can someone explain what to expect?

Depends: What happens at a Gyn visit depends on why you are going. You and the doc will first talk about about why you are there and your doc will make a recommendation. If you do need an exam, a nurse will be present. If it is a routine exam, it usually includes a vaginal exam so the cervix can be tested for cancer and a breast exam to search for breast lumps. Then additional tests may be ordered.
