Insomnia cause: First, try to get up at the same time each day. Getting some bright light at that time can synchronize your circadian rhythm - prompting a melatonin surge about bedtime. Second, do not fight sleep. If you have the sleepiness overtake you - honor it and retire.Third, avoid those activities or substances that make sleep onset more difficult or disrupt it - pm exercise, alcohol, energizing games/tv.

By taking good care: Of yourself. Eating well, exercising and good sleep hygiene go a long way. Add to that dealing with stress well and you are on your way. However, this may not prevent all sleep disorders.
