Many possibilities: A simple red eye can be literally hundreds of things. But in general if it is only red with no other symptoms like pain, itching, irritation, tearing, discharge, blurred vision it is unlikely to be anything to worry about. Watch for other symptoms and if they occur you should see an eye doc.
