I can no longer afford cymbalta (duloxetine) for pain. it's not advised to stop abruptly. can i open the capsule & remove some of the beads to titrate down?

Yes: I tell my patients to do exactly that. You then close capsule and take the cymbalta (duloxetine). Make sure you wash your hands well afterwards and dry them well so as to avoid transferring any of the medication accidentally to your eyes. Make sure your prescribing physician is consulted first .Best wishes.

Tapering: Stopping Cymbalta (duloxetine) abruptly may cause withdrawal symptoms such as tremors, sweating, anxiety, nausea, headache, it can also bring your primary symptom of pain back, Cymbalta (duloxetine) controls pain via neural pathways of spinal cord. Pharmaceutical companies can help in collabration with your md office to get you the medication. If your pain comes back after tapering it may not be controlled by the same dose.
