No: When neutrophils are high it can mean that there is an infection, but it is hard to say what is causing the elevation in the neutrophil count without more information. Chances are that if your mother has stage IV lung cancer it is spreading at some rate unless she is getting treatment then the spread can be slowed or stopped.

No: Spreading lung cancer would not affect the neutrophil counts. Most likely she is taking some shots to increase her WBC count which is done after chemotherapy so that the patient does not develop low wbc/neutrophil counts which can lead to infections if the neutrophils become too low.
