She needs a doctor!: Diotomaceous earth contains very fine particles called silica, which can be inhaled and cause lung irritation. However, this doesn't cause sudden symptoms. Since your mother is breathing differently and she has lung cancer, she needs to see her cancer doctor as soon as possible. It probably has nothing to do with the diatomaceous earth and everything to do with her underlying lung cancer.
