Gut bacteria: Both e.Coli and group b strep are common bacteria in the intestines.They are often found together in a stool specimin.The e.Coli is a more common cause of urinary tract infections than group b strep.Gbs is best known for asymptomatic carriage(1/3) in the female genital tract, and passage to a newborn where it can cause devistating disease.Oral antibiotics can help a UTI but rarely effects carriage.
