How effective is accutane for acne and do you need to be on birth control to take it?

Need birth control!: Accutane is a very effective treatment when other treatments have failed. However, this medicine can cause terrible birth defects. You should be on two forms of birth control to use this medicine, and most states put restrictions on which doctors can even write for this medicine. These concerns limited to female patients, but also some warnings regarding patients with mental health issues a well.
