Not from that: It causes hand, foot and mouth disease, which is a viral infection usually in kids.It causes a blister-like rash on the affected parts. You may be thinking of hoof and mouth disease that effects cattle, pigs, sheep, goats and deer.

When can I let my baby play with a pet dog?

Dr. Nanette Nuessle
Specializes in Pediatrics
3-4 days: If your infant and the dog are being supervised, and the dog is up to date on his immunizations, there really is no early age limit. Your infant can be exposed to your dog as soon as your baby comes home from the hospital. If your dog goes outside, this may be an opportunity to enhance your infant's immune system by exposing the baby to allergens in small amounts.

Is it common to get rabies from a dog bite in the us?

4 doctor answers6 doctors weighed in
Dr. Robert Kwok
Pediatrics 33 years experience
No, not in the U.S.: In the United States, dogs are well taken care of, and cities have good animal control services. One is unlikely to get rabies from dog bite in the U.S.. Sure, there are some rabid dogs here and there, but nothing near the level of problems seen in developing countries. In the U.S., the animals that carry rabies are raccoons, skunks, foxes, coyotes, and bats. Any bite should be seen by a doctor.

Do hot dogs cause cancer?

Dr. Charles Cattano
Gastroenterology 39 years experience
Eat fewer hot dogs: Hot dogs are relatively cheap and taste good. Watch out however for what's in them--read labels carefully to assess what meat is used and how much fat and preservatives are involved in their manufacture. Excessive dietary animal fats have been associated with an increased risk of cancers of the GI tract . Instead, eat a well balanced diet high in monosaturates, whole grains, fruits, vegetables.
A 47-year-old member asked:

Is it possible to remove all the dander from my dog?

2 doctor answers3 doctors weighed in
Dr. Sean McGhee
Allergy and Immunology 23 years experience
No: You can't get rid of all the dog allergen, although you can reduce it by bathing the animal twice per week, vacuuming with a filtered vacuum, having hard floors and using a hepa filter. This is a lot of work though, so it's often better to relocate the animal outside if possible or not to have a pet in the first place if you have allergies.
