HSV and pregnancy: So, it appears that you have been exposed to both hsv type 1 and 2 and harbor genital herpes virus (hsv 2) which your baby can contract. It's been shown that if you have no active outbreak of hsv 2 around the time of your labor, your baby is safe. If you do have such outbreak and your baby is being delivered, he/she may acquire the virus and develop complications.
