Do whiteheads need to be popped? what happens if you don't pop a pimple in general?

Cyst vs abscess: Small whiteheads are generally different form pimples. Whereas pimples tend to be inflammatory active lesions filled with white cells, white heads tend to be quiescent cysts filled with dead skin cells that may remain stable or rise to the surface and rupture.
