Maybe: You've indicated you're 80 years old with history of liver transplant. You have to weigh risks against benefits of a procedure. The risk of infection or epidural abscess is greater in someone who's immune suppressed. If the cause of your pain is mechanical compression due to extensive spine degeneration epidural may help but for a very short while. I would look into medications such as gabapentin.

Sciatica: If the sciatica is from inflammation or irritation to the nerve that is causing the pain then steroid injections can sometimes be helpful.
