Pain: Let me reinterate. You child needs to be seen asap to be evaluated for a variety of possibilities such as legg perthes disease, infection or possible tumor.

Possible infection: This could be a septic arthritis. Best course is to go to an urgent care center. In most large cities there is usually an orthopedic urgent care center that can quickly evaluate the problem and offer solutions. If this is not an option consider an emergency room. Good luck.
