What is stenosis and what will happen to the person who has it?

Abnormal narrowing: Stenosis is abnormal narrowing. But, "stenosis" tells us nothing about what is narrowing. After all, spinal stenosis is very different from coronary artery stenosis which is different from carotid stenosis which in turn is different from penile artery stenosis. However, last 3 arterial stenoses tend to lead to vascular events eg heart attack, stroke & erectile dysfunction while former causes pain.
