Possibly thyroid: Perhaps your doctor did not find any symptoms to tip off a medical cause for your weight gain, but generally i test for. Diabetes ( hba1c) , hypothyroid (free t3, (liothyronine) free t4, reverse t3, (liothyronine) tsh) and adrenal stress (saliva adrenal stress test with samples @ 8am, noon, 3 pm and bedtime) any of which can cause weight gain or make weight loss more difficult.

Weight loss meds: Weight loss medication can have an effect on your heart. It is important to have some other labs checked, like a cmp, cbc, tsh, lipid panel prior to weight loss meds.
