Depends on person: Blood clots (pulmonary emboli) in the lung are most often derived from clots in the leg / pelvic veins that break free at those locations and travel through the blood stream to the lungs. Such clots can be very serious, even life threatening. If they are diagnosed and treated, it is possible to have them resolve and not limit life expectancy / survival. It depends on the individual and therapy.
