Swollen muscles: When you workout your muscle your muscles swell a bit and accumulate Lactic Acid . The superficial veins on top of your muscles are drained / drain into deep veins through these muscles. They superficial veins just dont drain quite as well, and tend to accumulate the Lactic Acid which can cause soreness. You might try compression sleeves to see if that helps.
