Needs an evaluation: Increasing pain, fever, redness around the burn that wasn't there previously, and a change in the feel of the tissue are all signs of burn wound infection. If you think you might have this, you need prompt medical attention.

Redness, fever: If there is redness of the burn, warmth around the burn, or pus or white/ yellow discharge in the burned area, it may be a sign of an infection. If you have fever or chills, those can also indicate infection. It is best to have a doctor evaluate your burn to determine if there is an infection.
