Usually Not 1st degr: Infection in 1st degree burns is not common. Usually use of topical cream (like silvadene) will improve discomfort and provide antibacterial protection during the early healing time. See your doctor to confirm it is 1st degree versus 2nd degree injury and decide treatment of choice.
