1st or 2nd degree: Blisters develop in a more serious burn, called a second degree burn. If you have a first degree burn it isn't going to blister later. Cool the burn under cool (not cold) running water for 10 or 15 minutes or until the pain subsides. Don't ice it. If it is very large even though not blistered have it looked at.
