Dark Spot Treatment: First of all, there are several causes for dark spots. Dark spots caused from skin injury, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, can be treated with the following: - hydroquinone 2% (available without a prescription) to 8% (prescription only) - tretinoin (retin a), which works best in conjunction with hydroquinone - Azelaic Acid (azelex)- used in pregnant woman as an alternative to hydroquinone.
