Poss. head trauma: In a study of 240 cases in 1987, 17% developed onset within days to weeks after cerebral trauma and 15 % after presumed viral neurolabyrinthitis. The significance of the findings were unclear as they did not influence the course of the disorder. The cause in most cases is undefined. Rapid head movements will worsen vertigo caused by other disorders (meniere's disease, posterior fossa tumors etc).
