My daughter has cml. how will this affect her?

CML: The bad thing is that she has cancer. The good thing is that she can control this disease and hopefully " cure" it with pill. CML accounts for 15-20%of chronic leukemia. Is associated with abnormal bcr-abl fusion gene-that is becoming the target of treatment. Treatment is oral pill -tyrosine kinase inhibitor- Gleevec or sprycel or tasigna (nilotinib) are available. Prognosis in majority is very good.

Cml: Multiple treatments are now available and pts can live a normal life , they just have to take medicine daily though if a great response is obtained potential for stopping drug therapy is considered.
