Same I always say: I have always been an advocate vitamins are not necessary if you eat properly. Most don't, so a basic multivitamin is a 'supplement' not a substitute for sensible proper diet.

Whole food vitamins: Few of us eat perfect diets grown in perfect soils containing all minerals and other nutrients required for optimal health. So most of us do need the support of vitamins. I suggest that people use products that are as close to real food as possible, with natural vitamin e, tocopherols, & trienols -- plus no more than 2500iu pre-formed vit a per day. Many whole food multis meet these criteria.
