Second opinion: If you are not sure, then get another opinion from another gynecologist, or even a GI doctor to try and determine the source of your pain. If it is your colon, and you have your uterus removed you will still have the pain. There are medications that can help as well. Surgery can always be an option. Just make sure you feel comfortable with that decision.

Yes: Colitis is a very common cause of abdominal cramping. You may still need a hysterectomy, but it should be reasonably certain that the uterus is the problem before proceeding with a major surgery to remove it.
