Enlargement: Simply put, BPH (benign prostatic hypertrophy) is enlargement of the prostate. It is associated with aging and a very common finding in most men over 50.

Prostate enlargement: This is almost uniform in men older than 50. The prostate gland grows over time under the stimulation of male hormones and frequently causes symptoms of low bladder capacity with the need to void more often. This can progress to the point of blocking the flow of urine from the bladder but it can be treated with medications.

BPH: BPH means benign prostatic hypertrophy and it is an enlargement of the prostate.

BPH: BPH - benign prostatic hyperplasia simply put; it is non-cancerous enlargement of a gland under the bladder, through which urine passes as it leaves the bladder. It becomes important because this enlargement can result in the development on urinary symptoms such as urinary frequency, urgency, nocturia, hesitancy, intermittency, straining, incomplete emptying, and post-void dribbling.
