Controversial: In general, estrogen therapy is contraindicated in women who've had a blood clot. There are physicians who will treat with estrogen in this instance with close monitoring. There are herbal preparations that may help but some physicians even consider these contraindicated. The risk of blood clot recurrence is variable and difficult to enumerate. It is her life, however. She should decide.
