Melatonin: The use of melatonin is somewhat controversial. Most of it is synthetic and is not necessary because it is naturally produced by the pineal gland and useful only if you are truly deficient (rare). Try this 2-4 hours prior to intended sleep time.

Melanin: Melanoma refers to the skin cancer, while melanin is the sleep aid. I recommend you have a serious talk with your primary care physician prior to starting this medication. Although it is over the counter, this does not make any more safe. Furthermore, sleep is a very important aspect of your daily ability to function, and your doctor should determine what may be causing your difficulties.

Melatonin,not melano: The product you are probably referring to is melatonin and not melanoma as the latter is a skin cancer. People tend to use melatonin during air travel when going across timezones so that they can have less jetlag issues.
