My grandfather who's 90 just got diagnosed with bladder cancer. what is the prognosis for someone this old?

Bladder cancer: Bladder cancer treatment is based on stage of cancer and treatment will depend on other medical issues. Most bladder cancers are early stage that requires removal of the tumor and close follow up. Bladder cancer that penetrates the muscle of the bladder wall may require surgery of part or whole bladder or chemotherapy and radiation in combination. Treatments depend on other medical issues.

Depends: Sorry to hear of that, but bladder cancer is often very treatable. The grade (microscopic appearance) and stage (how deep it invades the bladder) will determine both the prognosis and treatment options. Bladder cancer is usually thought of as muscle invasive or non-muscle invasive and the prognosis often hinges greatly on this fact with some exceptions that your doctor can explain. Good luck!
