At your doctor: First your daughter needs a tetanus shot if she hasn't had one in the last 5 years. The cat needs to be identified, if possible, and you need to be sure it is not sick. (rabies is the big concern.) lastly, the bites need to be thoroughly cleaned, as cats have bacteria in their mouths which ride into the skin on the cat's teeth. An antibiotic may be necessary if infection is present.

Antibiotics: Use ice for swelling and discomfort, but watch closely as animal bites can introduce a bacterial infection not only into the skin, but into the blood stream. Dont hesitate to get to a doctor for antibiotics if there is skin redness, swelling or if child has fever. Be aware.
