Treatment: There is no cure for bipolar disorder. With the right treatment and monitoring, it is possible to keep the symptoms under control.

Treat the disorder: (not stop it). Meds fall into classes of mood stabilizers (Lithium​/ anticonvulsants like valproic acid, divalproex or lamotrigine) & atypical antipsychotics (Quetiapine, aripiprazole, olanzapine or risperidone). Other tx: psychoeducation, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychotherapy & family or group therapy. Refractory cases- Transcranial magnetic stimulation or electroconvulsive therapy.
