No: It depend on how long you on it. Usually the medication take 4 to 6 week to work. If you already took it over 4 weeks and not feel it work, the doctor can increase the dose. If it is still not working after adjusted the dose, your doctor can switch to other medication, but do not stop taking it. Some medication can not stop abruptly and need to tapper off to prevent withdraw symptoms.

Please seek help!: Finding an effective regimen for bipolar disorder ii can be challenging. Please don't stop your medications without discussing it with your doctor. Unfortunately it can take some trial and error, but once the appropriate regimen is found most patients are very, very relieved and even though they may miss the hypomania, not going through the depression which = 80% of the episodes is worth it!
