A viral illness: Chicken pox is a viral illness that results in not only a rash but other symptoms such as fever. It is an infection with varicella. There is a vaccine that can be given to prevent varicella infection. If you haven't had chicken pox you should ask your doctor if this vaccine would be appropriate for you.
