YES...but not much: Excising the ingrown nail is usually done under local anesthesia. The digital nerve is blocked with an injection of local anesthetic. The initial pinprick can be felt, but if the injection is done gently there's only a brief discomfort. Once the toe is numb, the nail can be removed. Once the numbness recedes, there can be some mild soreness. Good luck.
