Can ingrown toenail removal hurt?

YES...but not much: Excising the ingrown nail is usually done under local anesthesia. The digital nerve is blocked with an injection of local anesthetic. The initial pinprick can be felt, but if the injection is done gently there's only a brief discomfort. Once the toe is numb, the nail can be removed. Once the numbness recedes, there can be some mild soreness. Good luck.

Pain then relief: You have an ingrown toenail. You are asking if it hurts. You will have pain during the injection. Then you will have relief when the nail that was painful is relieved. The process involves Lidocaine injected. The nail is trimmed back then allowed to heal.
